The Paper Making Journey

Lovingly Handcrafted in India

Paper making is an ancient skill in India. Cotton rags and textile scraps are chopped, pulped and dyed and spread over a  mesh screen. The cellulose rich fibres then bind together to form the paper. Excess water is squeezed out and each sheet is hung out to dry. The sheets are then pressed in a calendering machine to smooth out the creases.

We Spice it Up

At Paper Mirchi, we blend our passion for creativity and design with this age old technique of paper making to produce fabulous paper that you will love! With a wealth of experience in the textile industry, we incorporate interesting printing and dyeing techniques in an array of striking colours to bring to you an exclusive product. Cotton paper has exceptional strength - so we've even tried our hand at embroidery, and guess what?...it worked!

Let your Imagination Take Over

Our paper makes stunning gift wrap but there is no end to its possible uses. Art & craft, scrapbooking and card making are to mention just a few. You may love our paper so much, that you may want to frame it and hang it up on your wall!

About Rani

My Dream Come True

Giving and gifting has always been a celebrated occasion in my life... And I like to do it in style!

I like choosing the right kind of paper, ribbon and accessories to adorn every present that I give, no matter how small... And I enjoy it!

My attention to detail and personal touch in gift wrapping has put smiles on many faces and that is my biggest reward. I truly believe that putting in that little bit extra thought and effort transforms even the simplest gift into something very special.

I am a qualified textile designer and I've always been intrigued by ancient textile processes like block printing and tie & dye where design and colours come together to create stunning patterns. I grew up in Mumbai (India) and worked in the textile industry in the early part of my career. Since moving to the UK nearly 10 years ago, I've diversified into garments, costume jewellery and being a stay at home mum; but my love for designing never ceased.

My passion for wrapping and background in textiles gave birth to Paper Mirchi. My aim is to produce high quality gift wrap that is unusual and beautiful, yet affordable. It's still early days, but I can see my dream come true.

Mum to two beautiful boys and a very supportive husband, I also love cooking and entertaining. And when I'm not thinking about paper, I'm listening to Bollywood music or watching a film.
